Materials I used:
· An empty square tissue box
· 1 bottle of brown poster or acrylic paint
· A paintbrush
· 1 sheet of white construction or chart paper
· Scissors
· Pencil
· A black permanent marker
· A bottle of white craft glue or glue gun
· A rough sheet to cover the work table with
How I did it:
1. I painted the empty tissue box on all four sides with brown poster paint and left it to dry overnight.
2. Next, we cut the opening of the tissue box into a bigger circle for the mouth of the Hungry Monster.
3. Next, mama cut two small circles of the same size from the chart paper for the Monster’s eyes and I drew smaller black circles with black marker inside the circles for pupils.
4. Then, we cut two small squares as teeth for the Monster’s lower jaw and a pair of slightly bigger teeth for the upper jaw.
5. We cut small curved triangle shaped ears from the chart paper and painted them brown.
6. Later, I stuck the eyes vertically to the top of the box, just above the opening for the mouth.
7. I pasted the ears on either side of the box.
8. Then, I stuck the smaller pair of teeth inside on the lower side of the mouth and pasted the bigger teeth inside on the upper side of the mouth of the Monster.
9. Finally, mama cut the remaining chart paper into small fish, the size that would pass through the mouth of the Monster. We made ten fish but you can make as many as you wish.
Voilla! The Hungry Monster was ready.
I fed the Monster with so many fish. I loved counting the fish as I fed my Monster. I even learned addition and subtraction by counting how many fish were left after feeding the Monster five fish.
I love my Monster. Hope you love yours too!
